School management reflects the three-fold social order of cultural/economic/rights spheres. The Cultural sector (educational/spiritual) is managed by the College of Teachers. The Economic sector by the Finance Sub-Committee of Council. The Rights sphere covering the legal side of the school, the contracts, relationships and processes being the domain of the school Council.
Council, College and administration work closely together to ensure good communication and cooperation.
The School Council
Yallingup Steiner School is an incorporated association with accountability and responsibility carried by the School Council.
The Council is comprised of members of the YSS Association, from which sub- committees are formed and duties delegated as needs arise.
The Council is mainly comprised of parents of children attending our school. The School Council carries the responsibility for financial decisions, governance and administration.
Councilors take up positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and committees such as Building & Environment, Parents & Friends etc. Up to six members may act as ordinary Councilors and different sub-committees may be formed, either for the year or for a certain period.
Becoming a Councilor is a fantastic opportunity to work for the school, be part of the decision making process and bring your ideas to air. You may nominate yourself or others before the Annual General Meeting which is held in March each year.
Council meetings are held once a month and are open to all members of the Association. Please note there is a code of conduct and details of discussions are confidential. Official Council minutes can be read by Association Members in the office at school. Please ask our Registrar.
