Wednesday, 11 May 2016 04:02
Please see below from the Year 10 teacher at the Perth Waldorf School who is looking to bring two groups of Year 10 students down to Yallingup for a surveying camp. They are looking for land to survey for this project. If you can help please phone John or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . “I would very much like to bring down two groups of Year 10 students to the Yallingup area; the first from Sunday 13th Nov to Friday 18th and the second from Sunday 27th November to Friday 2nd December. During most of the school hours, we would be out on field taking measurements. I hope to make some shared time with the students of Yallingup Steiner School where it fits for the students of both schools to interact and get to know each other if that works for you. Mostly it will be a busy practical time of taking…

Welcome, Welcome Back and Farewell

Wednesday, 27 April 2016 03:14
Welcome back to all students, staff and parents for our Autumn/Winter term for 2016. We hope your holidays were a happy and fun-filled last hurrah to summer and the dry days. We are now in the local Nyoongar Season of Djeran, a time marked by the coming of the cooler South Westerly winds. This term promises to be another full one with Soups happening again on Wednesdays, the AGM and Stew, Tunes and Transitions, Class 2 & 3 bushwalks, Parent Craft retreat, Winter/Makkura Kenning celebration, School Tour and much, much more. As indicated last term our K5’s will have a change of days from this term and will be having Mondays off rather than Fridays. We would like to offer a very special welcome back to Claire Rewa who rejoins her Class 3 group after being off for two terms of maternity leave. Thank you once again to Paul Lange…

Around The Kindergartens

Tuesday, 12 April 2016 03:09
During the holidays a group of dedicated parents and staff worked together to make some further improvements and also do some maintenance in the K5/6 playground. As the pictures show there has been additional retaining added through the installation of some natural and creative stepping blocks and natural timber seating. The upper area around the flow form was then mulched and reticulation and lawn installed in the middle part of the playground. A safety cover has also been built to house the air conditioning unit and make the area safer and more protected from the children and the elements. We wish to extend a huge thank you to Jasmine Hanson, who has planned (with Ute’s, Jane’s and Kerrie’s help) and driven this project. Jasmin has spent many, many hours discussing possibilities, getting quotes, talking to contractors, making up spreadsheets and liaising with the staff and workers. It was a fabulous…

After Hours Access

Saturday, 09 April 2016 03:07
During the holidays and weekends we have had some issues with visitors to the School when the school is unattended, using toilets, leaving taps on and filling our rubbish bins. We appreciate the interest our beautiful little school creates amongst the community, but the need to preserve water and the space for the enjoyment and education of the children is far more important than catering for the public (who are not so well meaning at times). We have therefore come to the decision to implement a policy where the toilets will be locked overnight and on weekends and school holidays. In particular the use of the water tap, the toilets and our bins by the general public after hours is not acceptable behaviour especially considering how precious our water source is! Most of the water used in our toilets is actually sourced from a dam across the road i.e. not…

Giant Knitting Follow Up

Friday, 08 April 2016 03:06
Just as a follow up on the Giant Knitting the School wanted to let the wider community know what a great success this has been as a tool to promote the School; overall our very amateur video which was primarily made for the knitters parents has reached 83 800. The photo taken by SW Life & Style has had more than 11 320 ‘shares’. The School has been approached by the City of Melville to exhibit the piece for sale at the Heathcote sculpture exhibition and also received recognition and encouragement from all over the world from Sculptors and craftspeople. We have even been approached by an excellence in teacher organization from California and will have an article published on the piece by an international textile magazine later in the year. We are extremely grateful to the P&F for purchasing the work for the price of the materials. The plan…
