With autumn begins to dim
The stimulation of sense:
Veils of thick mist
Mix with bursts of light.
I myself gaze into space
To see Autumn’s wintry sleep.
Summer has given me
The offer of itself.

Term 1 Week 6

Dear Families,

Welcome back from the long weekend! We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to stretch out the days with your children and found pleasure in the signs of seasonal change, a splash of rain amidst the heat….

Steiner’s words in his Calendar of the soul have a lovely ring to them this week.

A translation for children reads in part:

“… I myself can clearly see

How autumn, soft and slow, is creeping…”

As we inch towards the equinox, equal day and night, little signs and changes are noted in the landscape, the white flowers of Bunuru, adolescent marsupials and birds…

Simply sitting, walking and playing with your children in nature can provide them with deep insights into the workings of the world at large. Add to this, simple celebrations, friends, family and food and you have a recipe for conscious and enjoyable parenting.

Steiner Education can additionally offer many valuable insights into how your child might be experiencing the world according to their developmental profile.

As an offering to parents who might like to ask questions about our educational offering or any other elements of our school life, I will be available for listening sessions on Friday mornings at 9.15 am. Feel free to drop in for an informal cup of tea and a chat. This is a way in which we can ascertain some of the communication most beneficial to our current parent body.

In the meantime, Bunuru blessings to you all,

Jacqui

P&F Bulb Fundraiser

Fire Drill

We were very lucky to have Yallingup Rural and Yallingup Coastal Bush Fire Brigades along with Andy Thompson, DFES officer, in attendance at our recent fire drill.

The students were extremely immersed with the fire truck demonstrations. Many thanks to our fire fighters for taking this time.

Ancient Civilizations with Class 5

What a start to the year! It is with great pleasure I am able to share the continuing development of our Class 5 cohort as they begin their exploration of Ancient Civilizations. While delving into India with Ruth, the children and I have been finetuning our investigative skills in the world of Mesopotamia.

Here, the richness of our curriculum supports the unfolding of the children’s ego development, by allowing their classroom experience to delve further into their consciousness. Now we begin to approach our own learning with more purpose and with growing skill, demonstrating the building blocks for individual research, note-taking, composition and paragraph structure. I am extremely proud of how the children have explored these new challenges with enthusiasm, wonder and a bubbling curiosity in the historical unfolding of our shared humanity.

In addition we have, in our practice sessions, taken the next step through handwriting, with the gradual award of our fountain pens for calligraphy. The children have been busily stitching away on their embroidered pouches which will hold their new and valued gifts.

With love and light

Sally and the children of Class 5

C6 Ellensbrook Excursion

As part of their Geology studies, Class 6 explored the Ellensbrook area, on land and under water. There was a lot to learn, from finding ancient limestone formations, fossicking and discovering the many springs that feed the stream.

Fruit Ice Cream Roster

The ice cream roster commences on Wednesday 7th Feb and goes for 8 weeks.

Please arrive at school by 12.15pm to allow time to set-up the table, ice-cream machine, cones & fruit, before eager children arrive at 12:45 pm

As well as giving our children a healthy treat made with 100% fruit, this is a fantastic fundraiser for our school, so I thank you all in advance for your time & effort in making this successful.

P&F request all families to fill out the form and return it to the office by the start of term.

The cost of an Ice-cream is $2.50 for primary school students & $2 for Kindy 5/6 students. (K4 students are not charged.)

The ice cream/soup payment form is available on SchoolStream.

Please contact Shanai Williams 0410 498 377 should you not be able to make your commitment to this roster.

Primary students will not be partaking in icecream on 21.02.24 due to swimming. .
