There will emerge out of the womb of worlds, To quicken senses' shine, the joy in growth. Now may it find my force of thought Well armed through forces of the gods, Which forceful, live within my self. -Rudolf Steiner Archive

Gathering Strategic Perspectives for all Realms at YSS.
The College of Teachers, and Staff members, contributed to the 2026-2030 Strategic Planning work sessions as part of their Term 4 professional development program. Facilitated on site, participants engaged in reviewing events and outcomes of the current strategic plan, before casting their visions forward to the opportunities and challenges to come in the future of YSS.
The Strategic Planning Subcommittee continued their work on campus this week, welcoming parents and carers of Class 1 and Class 5 students to contribute to the School’s next strategic plan by engaging in the facilitated 30-minute activity in the school Hall.
Parents/carers who would still like an opportunity to contribute their perspectives, who may have missed previous meeting times, are welcome to come along to the strategic planning session held on Thursday October 31st at 3:30pm.
On Tuesday November 19th at 2:00pm all community members are invited to attend a whole school meeting where initial trends from the community consultation will be shared with the development of an updated Strategic Plan to continue next year.

Open Day
YSS families, as well as members of the public, were welcomed at our school on Saturday and enjoyed a relaxed time. All classrooms were open for a leisurely perusal and a friendly chat with the teachers and a lovely morning tea, soup and freshly baked bread was offered to all visitors.
Books, art materials and handmade toys were available for sale, and families were free to wander the grounds and rooms and marvel at the beautiful displays of the children’s work.
Open Day is always a special occasion to come together to witness the legacy of our incredible curriculum, the dedication of our teaching staff and the heart, hands and will of the children. It is a wonderful opportunity to interact with families and meet extended visitors and friends.
A big thankyou to all those who were able to attend our annual Open Day this year. Staff were able to band together with the wonderful volunteer parents in the kitchen to create a magical and memorable event.
Once again a big thank you to all those who contributed, whether it be with a cake or simply a smile on the day!
With warmth and gratitude,
Victoria and Sally

Greek Olympics C5
As Class Five continued their historical journey through the Ancient Civilisations, the evolution of the world, we found ourselves in Ancient Greece, a place that still resounds in our modern self. The students learnt of experiences of Ancient Greek culture pertaining to human freedom, the beauty and balance of the human body, a love of the word, a joy of life and living in the physical body. Strength, truth and beauty. This was our class virtue.
In honour of the great Zeus, all Class Five students from Western Australian meet at Perth Waldorf School to participate in ‘The Olympic Games’. Luckily for us this also linked with the Olympic Games being held in France and this added a wonderful link to our learning. Holding onto our virtue we started our training in Term One. Running together for 5 minutes each morning. This continued into Term Two with the introduction of strength training and long jump and in Term Three we introduced the discuss, javelin and the relay.
To assist us in looking our Grecian best we spent a Sunday and a day after school making new tunics and wreaths for the day. Thank you Leona, Veronica, Sarah L, Kerstin, Chantelle M, Anna, Jodie, Susie and Daisy for making us all look so amazing. This final touch held the reverence of the class and the whole school as we completed our final practice, a dress rehearsal in front of the whole school, I knew they were ready, they embodied all that was strength, truth and beauty.
With my co teacher Sally riding shot gun in the minibus and Veronica and Kyle following in convoy behind we headed up to Perth and made ourselves ready for the 7:30am start the next day.
The morning arrived, the nerves were manageable, we cruised through the traffic and YSS Class Five arrived, ready to bring their best selves to the day. They split off into their city states and I was left to observe. They chanted the verses and sung the odes as they made the way to the oval. Let the games begin!!!
I cannot explain how incredible proud I was of every single child. They truly embodied our virtues and were the best they could be in every way. We had a parent/grandparent representative for every child. We also had enthusiastic city state assistants from our class, Mark, Adam C, Veronica, Leona and Kyle. I was lucky enough to also be supported by my amazing colleagues, Sally and Lisa. I spent the day with a huge smile on my face and it would have to be a highlight of my teaching career so far. Class Five did themselves, their parents and the school extremely proud.
