We acknowledge the Wadandi (Saltwater people) as the traditional custodians of these lands, skies and waterways where we come together at Yallingup Steiner School, and where learning has taken place for thousands of years.
We extend this respect to all First Nations people and thank the Ancestors, Elders, and custodians of the Wadandi community, who have cared for and continue to nurture Country, in their many restoration projects, community and cultural research and spiritual wisdom of the earth as sacred.

Week 6
Dear Families
It is with immense pleasure that I return to school this week, following an immersive and inspiring week of professional development and Steiner Education Australia’s August delegates meeting.
I was lucky enough to join colleagues from other schools around Australia for a few days camping and connecting at Uluru and Lilla community in central Australia.
Traditional owners graciously welcomed us and shared stories and so much more throughout our stay. Guiding us through the dramatic landscape.
Swagging under the stars is an integral part of curriculum delivery experienced by Steiner students in Australia and it was great to road test options with camp operators from Remote Camping Tours who took care of many of the day-to-day logistics for us.
The Delegates meeting took place at the Alice Springs Steiner School and together as representatives we addressed the national strategic plan for Steiner Education Australia, engaged in study pertaining to curriculum content and focused on teacher development opportunities.
We were accompanied by traditional owners once again and given time and space to connect over food, medicine making, story-telling and guided walks in the ranges.
The contemplation of the paradigm of time, how we understand and use it and how we can bring students into connection with themselves and their surroundings in lasting and meaningful ways was a primary focus. The opportunities provided by rich and immersive learning experiences delivered in nature continue to underpin and define Steiner Education in its best practice.
Best wishes for the week ahead everyone. I look forward to seeing some of you on campus for a friendly hello soon.
Kind Regards,
Jacqui
Spring Equinox
Dear Parents,
This year our Spring Equinox celebrations will take place on Thursday, 18th September, and all parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend.
The day will begin with two performances by the senior students of the Pacifica College of Eurythmy. Our younger students will enjoy a performance at school, while our older students will attend a performance at St. George’s Family Centre Dunsborough Pacifica College, based in the Samford Valley near Brisbane, is currently touring Australia and we are fortunate to be one of their stops!
Following these morning performances, the whole school will gather at Meelup Beach to share lunch and honour the arrival of spring. Please pack a picnic lunch for yourselves if you wish to join as students will bring their own packed lunch along.
At the beach, our new friends from Pacifica will conclude the festival by leading a short, participatory eurythmy experience for all.
If you plan to take your child home from the beach, please let your class teacher know in advance and sign the register on the day. Otherwise, students will return to school in time for normal bus pick-up.
We are deeply grateful to our Eurythmy teacher, Early Childhood assistant, and Playgroup leader Julie Vivian-Williams, who has a special connection to Pacifica College.
In 2019, Neish Kyle and I attended Pacifica, and now my daughter Sky (from Yallingup Steiner School’s first graduating class) is performing with the troupe in her senior year. This connection has drawn Jan Baker-Finch, Josefin Porteous, their eleven graduating students, and their pianist across the continent to share their art with us.
Let us celebrate their generous spirit. Their performances will be a treat for the senses—music, poetry, movement, and colour. Please come and experience this inspiring art form.
Warmly, The College of Teachers
A Program of Events will be emailed and SchoolStreamed to all families shortly.
Kindergarten

Here we are, the Kindergarten Butterflies, out and about enjoying the wonders of our natural surroundings. Despite the wet and cold weather, we have been exploring and discovering the sea life washed up on the beach. On our last walk to Curtis Bay we counted six star fish and found one snotty sea cucumber! It is delightful to witness the children’s growing endurance and strength as our walks and plays begin to increase.

Thank you to our K6 crafters who made some new horsie reins for the Rainbow Room. All the children will love playing with them now and in years to come.
Class 3 News

The students have been investigating the magic of math: what patterns can be found within number patterns, who are the special friends of 10 and 20, what are the processes and strategies that can be found and used to support solving practical mathematical problems.
We then moved on to our Building Mainlesson where we discovered and explored homes and houses. First, we started with the local houses of the past, then moved further afield. These stories and experiences support students to deepen their connection to the world. Knowing that they can build a home on the earth supports them to find strength, clarity and confidence. Students will now build their own model house.
The earth is the home of all people,
Its ceiling the blue sky above;
Its floor is the ground on which we walk
Upheld by a selfless love.
The sun warms our home in the daytime
The moon and the stars light the night,
And over it all with great wisdom
God rules with a lawful might.
And out of this home with heavens help,
From water, fire , air and earth
Is fashioned a house for every soul
To dwell in from time of birth.
The heart is the sun which warms our house
The stars are the light in our mind
And when in our deeds there is warmth and light
Then God finds a home in humankind.
