When in the depths of spirit I am fullfilled in the ground of soul Out of heart's love worlds, Then empty notions of narrow self are replaced With world word's fiery strength. Calendar of the Soul -Rudolf Steiner

We acknowledge the Wadandi (Saltwater people) as the traditional custodians of these lands, skies and waterways where we come together at Yallingup Steiner School, and where learning has taken place for thousands of years.
We extend this respect to all First Nations people and thank the Ancestors, Elders, and custodians of the Wadandi community, who have cared for and continue to nurture Country, in their many restoration projects, community and cultural research and spiritual wisdom of the earth as sacred.

Welcome to Week 4
Dear Families,
It is with genuine happiness that I return to the fold of our school this week after a prolonged absence to attend to family needs. Having the privilege of time, to accompany a family member as she passed away, has been appreciated immensely.
I am so very grateful for the combined efforts and capabilities of my esteemed colleagues who have stepped in to cover me. Especially to my long-term working partner Rae-Lee who has been at the school alongside me for the past 16 years.
The opportunity to work collaboratively within the school’s management model brings the benefit of seamless transitioning at such times, giving both staff and students positive continuity.
This week I have observed classes deeply immersed in their first Main Lessons for the year and have been so pleased to see that the new Class One cohort have begun to settle into the Primary School playground, with some lovely mixed age play very visible.
One of the benefits of a small school context is the opportunity for student to find stimulation and comfort in the opportunity to develop relationships across the cross section of age groups during break times.
Though the weather can be changeable at this time of the year, please remember that sun protection is an important consideration and that having footwear at least in children’s bags is a must.
An upcoming seasonal festival is anticipated for mid March, to coincide with the Autumn equinox, details of which will be communicated closer to the date.
We look forward to taking the students to Dunsborough for their annual swimming lessons a little later in the term this year, with classes scheduled for weeks eight and nine. This will be very nice way to segway into the mid semester break.
Thank you to those families who have remembered to update their children’s medical plans for 2026. If you require any guidance in this area or are yet to notify the school of allergies or pre-existing medical conditions, please contact Jane Watts as soon as possible.
Steiner schools around the world are committed to supporting children in their individual unfolding to find a sense of healthy and meaningful social and cultural belonging. With the support of parents and caregivers, working together we have the capacity to provide wonderful consciously supported childhoods for our treasured students.
In the words of Rudolf Steiner, in what has become famously known as his ‘Motto of the Social Ethic’:
“A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living.”
A shared and common understanding and appreciation of the collective efforts made by each of us builds a shining example of mutual respect in the school yard.
Best wishes everyone and make it a great day,
Jacqui
School Dress Code – A Joyful Reminder
How joyous it is to be surrounded each day by a sea of fresh new school t-shirts in Class One. There is something so heart-warming about seeing the colours of the day moving together in harmony, it creates an immediate sense of belonging and shared purpose within our class community.
As a gentle reminder, the colours of the day are purple, red, yellow, orange and green. If your child does not yet have a school t-shirt, they are very welcome to wear a shirt in the colour of the day, or a plain shirt free from advertising, logos or caricatures.
Shorts and skorts are welcome and we ask that these are of a modest length to allow children to move, climb, sit and play comfortably and confidently throughout the day.
After meeting with many of our new families, one of the strongest reasons shared for choosing the Yallingup Steiner School pathway was the wish to protect and preserve childhood. What a beautiful sentiment to hold together as a community.
In honour of this intention and most importantly for your child’s safety and wellbeing , we ask that children wear only simple stud or sleeper earrings. No necklaces, make-up or artificial nails are to be worn at school.
Thank you for your support in maintaining the simplicity, safety and gentle protection of childhood that makes our school so special.
With warmth,
Ruth

Whole School Assembly
Last week, we celebrated Chinese New Year with the story of Nian in a whole school assembly. Classes Two and Three made red lanterns to celebrate, as a reminder of the red that scared the monster away from the village.
These festival days are so important for creating a seasonal rhythm for the children, appreciating our cultural diversity and connecting to our school community.

Class Three
We have started the with ‘In the beginning…’ a main lesson block focused on creation stories from around the world. We began with the Hebrew Seven days of Creation, for which we painted beautiful images every day. We have since moved to North America, delving deep into a creation story of the Apache people. In this story, the great creator spirit, the Hactcin, made all animals from clay. We explored being creators by making blue wrens from clay.
It has been a joy to watch the children step into the role of creators themselves — with muddy hands and wide imaginations, they are truly making the world their own.“
Class three have made an incredible start to the year, showing their developing maturity and their characteristic enthusiasm.

Shark Eyes Discount
With beach swimming lessons approaching and the children feeling the cold, Shanan and Heather from Shark Eyes would like to offer the school a discount for a thermal rashvest and a widebrim hat.
The thermal Rashvests are like no other rashie in that they are NOT soggy and cold when wet. They are wind chill protective, hydrophobic, warm and fluffy on the inside, flexible, comfortable and keep the kids much warmer than a normal lycra Rashie.
