YSS Newsletter 2026 Term 2 Week 2

Light from spirit depths Stives outward, like the sun; It becomes strength of will for life Shining in the dullness of sense To loosen powers Whereby creative might of the soul's urges Ripens into the work of man. Calendar of the Soul -Rudolf Steiner

We acknowledge the Wadandi (Saltwater people) as the traditional custodians of these lands, skies and waterways where we come together at Yallingup Steiner School, and where learning has taken place for thousands of years.

We extend this respect to all First Nations people and thank the Ancestors, Elders, and custodians of the Wadandi community, who have cared for and continue to nurture Country, in their many restoration projects, community and cultural research and spiritual wisdom of the earth as sacred.

Welcome Back to Term Two

Our students have returned bright eyed and bushy tailed from the holiday break ready for a range of engaging activities this term.

Bushwalking has begun in earnest with our first groups of students setting out last Friday on the Cape to Cape Track with their teachers and trusted guides from Cape to Cape Explorer tours, who we have been happily working with us for many years.

We also continue our collaborations with Nature Conservation Margaret River. Our first Adopt a Spot excursion of the year will take place with classes 4,5 & 6 this coming Friday.

Best wishes for the week ahead everyone.

Rainbow Room -Thank you

A warm thank you to the Rainbow Room families for all the help and work in the kindy gardens recently.

Along with extra special thanks to Michelle & Nemanja for the beautifully made table along with Sarah and John for the ‘working’ outdoor sink.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Bushwalking Class 2

There was a buzz at school on Friday morning, the first bush walk for the season. Everyone did so well, coming prepared and being ready for the bell. Accompanied by our guide, we set off from Meelup towards Castle Rock. Along the way, we discovered many spider webs, scorpions and snake holes. Passing many anglers, we knew it was the time of the year to look out for salmon. After some delicious food and some games on the beach, everyone explored the beach, built fairy homes and fish traps. The sun was out; it was a perfect day for it.

Eurythmy Workshop

Do you move everyday? Of course! And would you love to experience through your movement and stillness, increased presence, connection to those around you, and awareness of your role in the whole organisation that is your life – be it at home, work, or in community?

This foundations of Eurythmy workshop will guide you through specific movements, connecting us through space and the sounds of speech and music made visible. Deep listening, harmonious rhythms, spatial presencing and patterning, fun and challenge together with the group await. This is a structured, guided session for those interested in experiencing Eurythmy – the art of movement created by Rudolf Steiner and a core subject in Steiner schools. This session will also introduce the work of Eurythmy for social and workplace organisational development, fresh from the intensive training held over East.

No prior experience necessary; you are always welcome as you are and to participate to the level that feels right for you. Proposed movements do not require any particular skill or dance aptitude – these are unique human movements for every and anyone.

For mature teens and older.
